The Easiest Ways To Rank First In Search Results
By now, everyone has heard of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and more often than not the question becomes, “How can I rank number 1 on Google?” The answer is, well, complicated. There are a number of factors that go into where you rank on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). As a small business or a non-profit organization, working to rank higher can take away valuable time and resources that could be devoted to growing your business or your cause.
So what do you do? The simplest thing you can do is match your potential customer’s intent. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking that just makes all of this even more confusing. Customer Intent is defined as the user’s purpose for their search. Are they looking for information? Maybe they are shopping for an item or researching and comparing items.
Here are the most powerful two steps you can take to rank first in search:
Step 1: Remember why you started your organization. It was to solve a specific problem with your service.
Let’s say that you sell a product online like golf clubs. A potential customer may search, “new golf clubs”, “2022 drivers”, “drivers that get the most distance”, or my favorite search, “drivers that find the fairway”. Great, so you know potential search terms a customer may use. Now what? This is where you can really have some fun.
Step 2: Using the search terms you have discovered, create content to feature on your page to align with these searches.
For example, create a blog post that goes into detail on 2022 drivers. Review the newest drivers, write about your most profitable drive and dive into their specs. Create a video that reviews a couple of the drivers and gives your synopsis.
By creating a blog post that goes into detail on the 2022 drivers, you align your page with the intent of searching for information. The customer searching for the most distance could be comparing drivers that they might want to buy and by creating the video that details the specs of the club and its capabilities (Again, make sure that you sell this product and maybe your most profitable product is a good place to start), you align yourself with the intent of the customer.
This is just one aspect of many factors that go affect your ranking. While this may not catapult you to the number 1 spot, it will most certainly positively affect your ranking.
